Asalam Sarguru started his journey of tennis cricket in the year 1974. He played with ‘New Star, Unique’ thereafter shifted to ‘Rahul-11’ which was the best team at the time and he proved loyalty towards the team by playing with the same team till the end. He was an all rounder and was showered with many ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ awards.
After 3 years with Rahul-11, on playing a successful tournament, he won awards (Man of the Match, Man of the Series, Best Batsman, Best Player of the Tournament) he had to take a cab home for the first time due to the number of trophies instead of walking home as he usually used to.
